Acoustical properties of granular aerogel agglomerates

چکیده
Granular aerogel agglomerates obtain their unique mechanical and functional properties from underlying mesoporous structure intergranular interactions. In this presentation, we focus on the acoustical of granular layers present experimental results characterizing absorption behavior silica aerogels with average particle sizes ranging 5 μm to 2 mm. Our show that strongly depends size. To better understand size dependence, model using Biot’s limp poro-elastic formulation. Finally, use developed design layered stacks wideband sound properties.

Thermal Properties of Advanced Aerogel Insulation
Buildings consume too much energy. For example, 16.6% of all the energy used in the United States goes towards just the heating and cooling of buildings. Many governments, organizations, and companies are setting very ambitious goals to reduce their energy use over the next few years. Because the time periods for these goals are much less than the average lifetime of a building, existing buildi...
متن کاملAcoustical properties of ancient Chinese musical bells
Ancient Chinese music bells can be traced back to the Shang dynasty (1600–1100 B.C.). In addition to their significance in history and metallurgy, they provide much insight into the design of musical instruments in the early years and continue to make important contribution to acoustics due to their unique acoustical properties and rich physical mechanisms. These music bells differ from carillo...
متن کاملSize Dependent Acoustical Properties of bcc Metal
The ultrasonic attenuation is evaluated at 300 K along [100], [110], and [111] directions for the characterization of bcc metal Ta. The size of the metal is considered in nanorange. Ultrasonic velocity, Grüneisen parameter and acoustic coupling constant that depend on second and third order elastic constants are calculated for determination of ultrasonic attenuation coefficient. Second and thir...
متن کاملNonlinear acoustical properties of suspended sediment
Maritime advances during recent years have shown the importance of and the need for development of ultrasonic methods for the investigation of the transport of suspended marine sediments in rivers and in coastal regions. Two main acoustical procedures have been developed and used for the investigations of suspended sediment qualities during the laboratory studies, (1) high frequency resonance b...
